Four Reasons Why Cosmetic Plastic Surgery Is Not Vein

Women face double standards. We are meant to look naturally beautiful without any help. Yet we face harsh criticism and get called "vein" or "self-obsessed" if we invest in treatments or plastic surgery.

“It's not vanity to feel you have a right to be beautiful. Women are taught to feel we're not good enough, that we must live up to someone else's standards. But my aim is to cherish myself as I am.” Elle Macpherson

Here's four reasons why plastic surgery is awesome!

1. You Want To Maintain Your Look

As the years go by, you may want to maintain your youthful features. If saggy skin is making you feel insecure then what's the issue with wanting to make a change to feel more confident?

2. Exercise Won't Fix It

You can do as many squats as your body can handle, but, not many exercises will get you the results of Brazilian But Lift. Or maybe you lost a lot of weight and have a lot of excess skin that makes you insecure.

In a nut shell, exercise can't achieve some aesthetic health goals.

3. You Can Feel More Confident

This study found that women overall felt better about themselves after plastic surgery with improved “self worth”, “self esteem”, “distress and shyness” and “quality of life”.

If it's something you truly want and have made a well-informed decision then it very well can be a positive thing for you.

4. No Matter What You Look Like. You Are Still You

Whether you have botox, fillers, fake boobs, fake feathered eyebrows - you are still you on the inside and that is truly what matters. You should not be ostracised for making changes to your external appearance as your heart and soul is how you actually make changes in the world.

WHY SHOULDN'T YOU GET PLASTIC SURGERY?

1. To Seek Revenge

Revenge plastic surgery is a ‘thing’! Recently divorced people often get plastic surgery when their ex left them for someone younger. Or perhaps they were cheated on for many years and want to get their ex back.

No surgery can restore your self-esteem after trauma like this. You need to look inwards to restore confidence and self-esteem after a traumatising experience and should probably see a psychologist before seeing a plastic surgeon as you need to focusing on healing your mind.

2. If you have body dysmorphia

Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is chronic mental condition where you feel embarrassed, ashamed and anxious about what you look like. Patients with this issue may get extensive cosmetic surgery or exercise to excess. You need to seek psychiatric help rather than the knife of a plastic surgeon.

In my opinion, plastic surgeons and cosmetic physicians are not screening patients enough who have body dysmorphic disorder. In fact, some prey on these patients as they  make a lot of money from people with major insecurities.
